I've been working on a project to design a unified, flexible system of system-independent for magic, and some other stuff got swept up into the project.
One of those things is working out a version of the astral/dream that's different from mage's cosmology, and can be used by any splat. One of the main parts of it is that there's no Temenos. I'm keeping that as being part of Mage's thing. It's not that it isn't cool, but it gets to the point where it starts to overlap a bit with other stuff, including Arcadia. And I'm going for a more cosmic horror tone, so I like the idea of humanity not having its own special imagination realm, and the closest thing it has to that is the playground of mad child-gods. But I'm getting off topic (and I really love Mage and the astral).
So, basically, there's no longer a Temenos, only the Primordial Dream and individual dreams. Keeping the Primordial lets us keep Beast, and keeping individual dreams keeps changeling. Another idea I'm going with from Beast is that the Primordial Dream is connected to the various other supernatural realms- the Hedge, the Shadow, the underworld, and any others. It can also provide passage into alternate universe shards and time splinters, but the Machine really isn't fond of this, since it likes keeping those things apart, but it can't keep people from going through the cracks. I'm keeping it as a possible because of the story potential- someone stuck in a time splinter realizes that they're stuck there when someone starts psychically contacting them via dreams.
The main crunchy bits we need are some merits to deal with dreamwalking, and what rolls it takes to move around. I'm working on devotions for vampires to access dreams in another thread, and once changeling comes out there'll be stuff there.
