The idea of feral vehicles is something I've been playing around with for a while, and I think they could fit in a lot of places and in a lot of the gamelines. Ruleswise, I'm torn between handling them as vehicles and working out something to handle the lack of drivers or using the horror rules. I also think it'd make sense to give them Numina, maybe even some unique ones.
Mostly inspired by Genius the Trangression and the eventual fate of the flying car from Harry Potter.
Rumors:
- They're what happens when a species of animal is driven out of an area. A few spirits of that animal are left over, and they end up trying to latch onto anything they can find. Out of those, a handful of them try to Claim or Ride inanimate objects, and vehicles are usually the main thing they go for. Toasters and staplers aren't as mobile.
- They've got ghost drivers. There's some Numina that lets a ghost merge almost perfectly with one of its Anchors. It's not just standard Poltergeist activity, unfortunately. Once a ghost is merged with something, both of them get stronger. See, normally when a ghost tries to drive a car, it's a clumsy telekinetic fiasco. But when it's all merged in, it's got perfect control, incredible ability, all of that. And it...does something to their minds or whatever a ghost brain is called. You know that quote about hammers and nails? A ghost that's fused with a car is going to decide that most of its problems can be best handled by running them over.
- It was some government project to create a psychic AI that wasn't bound to any one body and could pilot numerous different ones by basically possessing them. Probably escaped somehow. Unless the government just decided to dump it on us to see how it'd perform in the "wild".
